About Frank P. Garo
Frank P. Garo first became interested in autographs and handwriting analysis as a youngster. In 1972, he founded G.S. Gallery and started authenticating autographs. The company grew to become one of the largest memorabilia businesses in America. In the 1970’s and ’80’s he was also a consultant to Topps and Fleer. Frank has also produced a dozen trading card sets on such diverse topics as the Civil War, Classical Music, Baseball, etc.
When he sold the business in 1984, he continued to authenticate and study autographs. Over the years his collection of autograph exemplars and books has grown into a massive library. Legendary autograph expert and author Charles Hamilton was a personal friend from whom he learned a lot.
Since becoming involved in autographs and handwriting authentication in 1972, he has exposed forged autographs and documents of both famous and not so famous people. Some of the roster includes Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Edgar Alan Poe, Charles Dickens, Ty Cobb, The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, John F. Kennedy, Babe Ruth and even the infamous Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler.

Frank has advised many companies, including eBay, on trust and safety issues. His expertise has been used by PayPal to settle forgery disputes.
He has uncovered numerous forgeries in wills, deeds, arrest warrants and other legal and personal documents for private clients and attorneys. He is a graduate of Fordham University and has had articles published on autographs and written a book.
Frank was the first to formally grade autographs and list the grade on the Certificate of Authenticity. One of our “alphabet” competitors claimed in recent years that they just “discovered” autograph grading. Hmmm.
